David Beckham has revealed he is desperate for his former club Manchester United to beat Chelsea in the Champions League Final.
Beckham was part of the United side that won the Champions League Final in 1999 beating Bayern Munich 2-1, however he hasn’t forgotten has former team mate Paul Scholes was missing that night through suspension.
Beckham said: “I hope they go all the way just for Paul Scholes because he missed out on the first Champions League final we won in 1999.”
Scholes who hit the winner in United’s semi final against Barcelona in midweek to send his side through to the final in Moscow has been promised a place in the starting line up by manager Ferguson.
Therefore, barring injury the midfielder should take his place in the final after missing out nine years ago.
Beckham also revealed the heartache Scholes suffered after having to sit and watch the final last time around.
“I remember how upset he was when he missed out last time and it would be nice to think he could lay that one to rest finally,” he added.
The LA Galaxy man also went on to say how he much he wants to his former team to take Europe’s top prize and how it would be a fitting tribute to Scholes who has been one of Old Trafford’s most faithful servants.
“It would be fitting given what he has achieved and the years of service he has given to United,” concluded the former England skipper.

因此，除非伤病，否则这位曼联中场一定会在决赛中出场，以圆九年前的遗憾。
贝克汉姆也表示出了对于斯科尔斯九年前只能在场下观战的痛惜之情。
“我仍然记得他当时错过最后一场比赛时的失落，如果他一直和我们战斗到最后该有多好”贝克汉姆说。
当然这位洛杉矶银河队的中场也表达了他希望曼联能够获得冠军杯的想法，并且认为这对于曼联的忠臣斯科尔斯来说是最合适的礼物。
“这（赢得冠军杯）对于他这些年来为曼联的做出贡献是最恰当的颂词。”前英格兰队长这样总结道。
